'I'm more motivated than ever': Yevan David on joining Van Amersfoort Racing in 2027

Yevan David gave his thoughts on signing with Van Amersfoort Racing for the 2027 F3 campaign

Yevan David will return for another season in FIA Formula 3 after confirmation he's signed with Van Amersfoort Racing for 2027.

After getting his first days of on-track running with the team in Barcelona, The Sri Lankan driver gave his thoughts on signing with the team and his early experience with the team across the post-season test.

"Very, very excited. Honestly, this is one of the most complete years I've had in a long time," David said. "To back it up with going to Van Amersfoort for 2027, I couldn't be more excited.

"Obviously, an incredible calendar that we're going to have. Really excited to go to the new tracks like Jeddah, Montreal, and Istanbul. I'm honestly just very excited to execute to the fullest.

"I absolutely love the team. A lot of different personalities. I really like my crew around me. Patrick, Thomas, they're my mechanics from Scandinavia. So I've got a cool background there.

"And then my engineer, Daniel, he's from the UK. So a lot in common with the three of us and we're really working together. And then the team itself, all the other mechanics and engineers in the team.

"I'm very much looking forward to getting to know everyone. I really feel a good energy within the team."

David was on track for the first time with VAR at the Barcelona test

David will of course have a full year of F3 experience on which to rely upon next season, something that he feels will make a big difference next year.

From understanding how the sessions evolve to general experience around each of the returning venues next year, David says he's optimistic the lessons of this season will make a difference.

"Super useful because you can see how procedures work, how the track evolves on a weekend and just basically how to put a lap together in qualifying under pressure.

"Once you've got conditioned into doing that, you know what to expect for next season. Not only that, you're not really shooting in the dark how you are in your rookie season.

"You know exactly what to work on and how to work on it effectively. So it's a double bonus for sure."

Looking ahead to the off season, David says that the hard work has only just begun. Following the final post-season test of the year in Barcelona, the VAR driver says that he will turn his focus onto himself, making improvements as much as possible for 2027.

Having achieved a maiden podium in F3, he has his sights set on a first F3 victory in 2027.

The Sri Lankan is aiming for a maiden win in the Championship next season

"I want to win. That's exactly what I think about when I wake up in the morning and I go to sleep.

"In terms of process and in terms of what I'm focused on, it's obviously about winning but more about the process and everything behind it. I'm not going to be thinking about the lap time that I'm going to get in qualifying.

"I'm going to think about what corners I can maximise and how I can maximise the lap itself. And then everything else will follow.

"I have never been more excited to just work as hard as possible every day. Every day of mine is going to be structured to the minute for how I can work towards my goal.

"It's going to be a lot of studying the races from this year, a lot of driving on the simulator, whether it's at home or at the factory, and a lot about learning how to cope under pressure even better.

"I think once I get to a level where I know how to drive without anything being able to phase me already on building and what I have is the goal, so everything in November, December is just going to be working towards that goal."
