Van Amersfoort Racing's Francisco Macedo was fastest on Day 2 of the Jerez post-season test

Francisco Macedo ended Day 2 of post-season testing in Jerez with the fastest time of the test for Van Amersfoort Racing.
The Portuguese driver was quickest during the morning’s qualifying simulations on a 1:29.766, with Rodin Motorsport’s Alessandro Giusti on top in the afternoon session with a 1:30.322.
MORNING
After a brief Red Flag caused by an issue for Alessandro Giusti, Pedro Clerot took the top with a 1:31.659.
But the Red Flags were waved once again with Alexander Abkhazava in the gravel at Turn 3.
Once the action resumed, Ernesto Rivera went to P1 on a 1:31.584. But there were several more improvements to come, with Taito Kato leading Keanu Al Ahzari by 0.003s with a 1:31.463.
Dion Gowda then went fastest with a 1:30.935 before improving to a 1:30.860, putting 0.169s between he and teammate James Egozi.
Al Azhari briefly went top with a 1:30.700, before Mattia Colnaghi eclipsed that time by 0.029s.
Kato was flying and completed an eye-catching 1:30.386 to put 0.266s between he and Rivera.
Niccolò Maccagnani then lowered the time to beat to a 1:30.302 with just over 90 minutes to go in the session.
Moments later, the Red Flags were waved with Francisco Macedo having stopped on track at Turn 8. But once the action resumed Colnaghi retook his place at the top with a 1:30.037.
The Argentinian driver was over two-and-a half tenths clear of the rest, although Jin Nakamura reduced the gap to 0.136s.
As the second hour of running came to an end, Enzo Deligny became the first to go into the 1:29s. The Van Amersfoort Racing driver’s 1:29.935 put him on top by 0.017s to Clerot. Macedo then made it a VAR 1-2, going fastest on a 1:29.766.
Into the final hour, and race runs were the focus for the majority, although with 30 minutes to go, there was a Red Flag. Maciej Gladysz found the gravel at Turn 5.
Running resumed, but there were no further changes to the timesheets, leaving Macedo on top ahead of Deligny, Clerot, Reza Seewooruthun, and Colnaghi.

AFTERNOON
After missing most of the morning session, Giusti returned to the track in the afternoon, and completed a 1:30.322 to lead the way.
Long runs were the focus for the teams after that, although there was a stoppage with just under two hours to go with Miguel Costa having stopped at the pit entry.
Once the lights turned green, practice starts and race simulations were still on the agenda, meaning there were no improvements to the timesheets.
Giusti ended up on top ahead of Macedo, Nakamura, Alex Powell and Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi.
That wraps up the Jerez post-season test but the drivers will be back out on track in Barcelona from October 26-27.
