Zane Maloney has become the latest driver to sign with Red Bull’s Junior Team and will serve as Formula 1 reserve driver in 2023.

The Bajan driver put together a fine maiden campaign in FIA Formula 3 with Trident, finishing as runner-up, just five points from taking the Championship.

His 2022 season started with promise and plenty of speed, but it was the final few rounds where Maloney made his mark. The 19-year-old took three consecutive Feature Race wins in the final three rounds to rocket up the Drivers’ Championship table.

He secured a further podium with P2 in the Budapest Feature Race as well as two pole positions at Imola and Zandvoort. Since the end of the 2022 campaign, he has taken part in post-season Formula 2 testing with Carlin. He finished up his work at Yas Marina Circuit with 246 laps across the three-day test.

Maloney said that his signing with Red Bull was a great opportunity and one that would be a great boost to his 2023 season.

“I am thrilled to announce that I will be a part of the Red Bull Racing Junior Team and F1 Reserve Driver in 2023. I am grateful for the opportunity and support, and look forward to getting the season started.”
