New York City under the lights: Max Esterson’s Dream Race Weekend

Max Esterson put in quite a few starring performances during his first full campaign in FIA Formula 3 with Jenzer Motorsport.

But we decided to take him out of the cockpit for a few minutes and give him a different type of test in planning his dream race weekend.

The American gives us a night race in his home city, so let’s see how it will work…

WHERE WOULD THE RACE BE HELD?

“I would usually go to my favourite track, Silverstone, but I guess I could also hold it in New York City, a street track in the city, going through Times Square. I don't know if it will happen, but it would be cool. I would probably have it in the Spring as the weather is really nice at that time of year in New York.”

DAY OR NIGHT RACE?

“I think night. If it's actually in the city, then it would be cool under the lights.”

WOULD IT BE A WET OR DRY RACE?

“Dry. It would be too much carnage if it was wet so we will keep it dry.”

WHAT TYRES WOULD YOU BRING?

“Since it's a street track I will have to go with the Soft tyres, would be good for racing actually.”

WHAT WOULD THE TRACK LOOK LIKE?

“Not too many 90-degree rights or corners because there are too many of those on street tracks in my opinion. New York is just a grid, so something that has some bends, not just hard rights, and hard lefts.”

WHICH CELEBRITIES WOULD YOU INVITE AS GUESTS?

“I don't know. I don't keep up on the celebrities. Whoever wants to come can come if they want, but only if they are paying for the tickets.”

WHICH ARTISTS WOULD PLAY ACROSS THE WEEKEND?

“I like The Strokes, they are my favourite band. They are also from New York as well, so it will like a home event for them. I'd say look out for them playing Someday, I like that song.”

WHAT WOULD THE TROPHIES BE LIKE?

“Trophies - maybe we could get the iconic buildings worked into the trophies, I think that would be cool.”

ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D ADD?

“I'd make sure the drain covers are wielded down. I'd make sure it goes through Time Square as well, would look good and you can see all billboards, it's good advertising.”
