Gladiators ready! Charouz Racing System’s Francesco Pizzi is ready to do battle as he came up with his dream addition to the Formula 3 calendar.

Racing at sunrise around the picturesque Eternal City, the Italian driver had plenty of ways to keep his fellow drivers on their toes whatever the weather.

WHERE WOULD THE RACE BE HELD?

“I’d choose a street circuit around Rome because it’s my hometown and nobody is racing there right now. It’s a really ancient city and it would be good to go around the Colosseum and the Stadio Olimpico, so it would be a good street track there.”

WHEN WOULD YOU HOLD THE RACE?

“Probably around March, early March when it’s not too hot. Then we can have it really early in the morning in mixed conditions.”

DAY OR NIGHT?

“I would like to have a sunrise race, just when the sun is coming out. Then the conditions are a mystery for everyone because you don’t really know what’s going on. So, there will be a bit of night and day, starting at night and ending in the daytime.”

WET OR DRY RACE?

“Damp! We have two races, so I’d have damp conditions towards Free Practice and Qualifying, then one race in the wet and one race in the dry. Although, I’ll start from the front of the wet race so I don’t get the spray from all the cars.”

HOW WOULD THE TRACK BE LAID OUT?

“It would definitely be more like Macau, not as slow as Monaco because I think it’s a bit too slow for F3. It would bring something similar to Macau. I would like to have mostly a really long straight so you can pick up a lot of speed with big DRS zones.

“I’d have a very big 90-degree corner so you can make overtakes. Then probably there’d be a fast section where you just have to lift a little bit so it’s really tough for the drivers. I don’t want it to be too long, so then I would like another slow chicane, one hairpin and then a left-right on to the main straight. That would be nice for me!

WHICH CELEBRITIES WOULD YOU INVITE TO THE RACE?

“I’d like José Mourinho the head coach of Roma to be there and then I would have my favourite singer Dua Lipa, so she can sing as well afterwards. The last one would be Lewis Hamilton, but he has to watch my race!”
