Andreas Estner will replace Sophia Floersch at Campos Racing for Round 7 of the season at Spa-Francorchamps. The German driver will be absent from the FIA Formula 3 grid in Belgium, as she is set to make her LMP2 debut in this month’s European Le Mans Series race at Paul Ricard.

Floersch will be replaced by her 20-year-old German compatriot, Estner, who has previous experience in F3, having competed with Jenzer Motorsport in 2018.

The Munich-born driver is an established single-seater racer, with experience in series such as the ADAC Formula 4, Italian F4 and the BRDC British Formula 3.

“I’m very happy to make my comeback in the FIA Formula 3 Championship,” Estner said. “This is an excellent opportunity for me but at the same time I realize it is going to be a challenging weekend because I haven’t driven the Dallara F3 2019 car for quite a long time and Spa-Francorchamps isn’t the easiest track in the world!

“It is a quite technically-demanding circuit. But I’m looking forward to working with Campos Racing and feel ready for the challenge.”

Estner finished 26th in F3 last season with Jenzer, and is currently racing in the 2020 Euroformula Championship with Van Amersfoort Racing. Estner sits second in the standings after two rounds, with three podiums.

Floersch skipped the opening two races of the European Le Mans season, as they clashed with her F3 commitments, but will now make her debut at Paul Ricard. The 19-year-old will then return to F3 for the final two rounds in Monza and Mugello.
