Yamakoshi disqualified from Budapest Qualifying results

Hiyu Yamakoshi has been disqualified from the FIA Formula 3 Budapest Qualifying results

Following the FIA Formula 3 Qualifying session in Budapest, Van Amersfoort Racing driver Hiyu Yamakoshi has been disqualified.

The Japanese driver was referred to the Stewards post-session for an alleged breach of Article 44.3 of the FIA Formula 3 Sporting Regulations and Article 2.5.1 of the FIA International Sporting Code.

The team was alleged to have conducted work on the car after receiving the end-of-race signal.

The Stewards examined video evidence and heard from both the driver and team representative.

They determined that having suffered an issue on the engine, the team had carried out work after the end-of-race signal had been given, and though they looked to gain no sporting advantage, breached both aforementioned Articles.

As a result of the infraction, Yamakoshi has been disqualified from the results, and all laptimes from Car 14 have been deleted. The Japanese driver originally qualified P30, but has been given permission to start both races from the back of the grid.
