Post-Race 2 Penalties

Devlin DeFrancesco, Logan Sargeant and Alexander Peroni have all been handed penalties following today’s FIA Formula 3 Race 2, at Spa-Francorchamps.

DeFrancesco has been handed a drop of five places on the grid for Race 1 in Monza, following his collision with Jake Hughes. The stewards have determined that the Trident driver out-braked himself on the approach to Turn 5, which resulted in a collision with the HWA RACELAB driver. Both cars subsequently retired from the race and DeFrancesco was considered to be responsible for the contact.

Sargeant has also been handed a five-place grid drop for Race 1 in Monza, following his collision with Liam Lawson. The stewards determined that the Carlin Buzz driver hit the back of the MP Motorsport man at Turn 18, which sent Lawson into a spin. Sargeant was found to be responsible for the contact.

Finally, Peroni has had five seconds added to his final race time in Race 2. It was found that Peroni made contact with Simo Laaksonen at the rear and caused a puncture, which lead to him impacting the wall. The stewards determined that while the contact itself was a minor misjudgement by the Australian, the drivers should be aware of the possible consequences and leave a bit more of a margin.
