Noah Stromsted Season Review: Improvements and opportunities

Noah Stromsted returned in 2026 with TRIDENT for a second campaign in FIA Formula 3. The Dane was aiming to fight for the title this time around, and secured victories and podiums but ultimately fell short.

Reflecting on his campaign, the TRIDENT driver says there were plenty of ups and downs but that he felt he made improvements across the board from his rookie season in 2025.

"I think the start of the season there were ups and downs," he said. "In the second half of the season there have been quite a few things out of our control which has affected our season quite a lot. So I've not had the results I had been hoping for this season.

"I've definitely made steps forward. There's been steps forward in everything in my driving. Unfortunately, it's not shown in the results because of some issues we've had this year.

"When we've had good days - we've had a really good pace. In Austria, we had a good qualifying, and then mega pace in both the Sprint and the Feature Race. On our good days, we've been really quick."

Stromsted admitted that his season hadn't gone as smoothly as he might have liked, highlighting errors and events that were both in and out of his and the team's control.

However, he also believes that he was able to improve across many different areas, with race management being a big strength of his throughout 2026.

"Some of the races have been, from my side, weren't always the best. Australia - I was looking to finish P3 in the Feature Race and got a penalty. In Monaco I also got a penalty for both races. So, for sure, some of it has been my fault, being a bit too aggressive at the start.

"The rest has been outside of our control. I think it was quite clear from last year was I had work to do in terms of qualifying, also a bit at the start of this season.

"But I think, as the season progressed, it has been quite good, just not showing up results-wise, but driving-wise it's been quite good. I also think in the races, a bit like in 2025, what has always just clicked for me in the races is tyre management and when to push and when to take it easy."

Overall, it's no surprise that the victory around the Red Bull Ring stands out as his moment of the year.

In a race where rivals peaked and then fell away, Stromsted was able to demonstrate his racecraft and management to rise above the rest.

"Austria Feature Race - the pace that we came was really strong from the start to finish. With the crash in the Sprint Race compromised the result a bit there. Otherwise, I think a double podium would have been also very likely."
