Inspiring the next generation under the floodlights: Enzo Trulli’s dream Italian F3 weekend

Italy - where racing is more than just a hobby, it’s a way of life. So, is it any wonder that Enzo Trulli has his heart set on a fantasy home race with thousands of fans getting involved in a spectacle under the stars.
Taking to heart his experiences growing up on the Formula 1 scene, we asked the Carlin driver to create his dream Formula 3 weekend. From the track to the podium, to bringing fans right into the heart of the action, here’s what the Italian came up with...
__WHERE WOULD THE RACE BE HELD? __
“I’d probably go somewhere where the people are really interesting and passionate about racing. There are a lot of places, especially where I grew up in Italy. When I was going with my father to races, I saw a lot of people.
“There are a lot of great places like Monza or Zandvoort, where there were a lot of fans. It’s difficult to choose one, but I’m from Italy so I’m going to have to say that. I was born in Pescara, so it would be cool to race there.”
__WHEN WOULD YOU HOLD THE RACE? __
“Probably not in the summer because maybe it would be too hot, but in the spring around April or May so it’s cooler.”

__DAY OR NIGHT? __
“Night race! I’ve only raced once in the night, and it was so cool.”
__STREET TRACK OR PERMANENT CIRCUIT? __
“A permanent track would be cool in the middle of the city.”
__WET OR DRY RACE? __
“This year we’ve had a lot of wet races, so I’d probably want a dry one.”

__HOW WOULD THE TRACK BE LAID OUT? __
“Firstly, I would take the first corner of Monza. I really like the opening chicane, you’re going really fast and braking hard. Then, I’d go for the old Yas Marina Circuit layout from a few years ago and have their first sector, I really like it – I love it. I drove there at the beginning of 2021 and the track was still using the old layout and I enjoyed it a lot.
“Also, I really like Spa-Francorchamps after the long straight. These would be all the main parts of it.”
__WHAT TYRES WOULD YOU PICK? __
“Soft of course! You can go faster and push more.”

__WHICH CELEBRITIES WOULD YOU INVITE TO THE RACE? __
“I really love Basketball, so I would pick one of the NBA players. I’ve played Basketball since 2020 and I still play it now with my friends.”
__WHAT WOULD THE PODIUM AND TROPHIES LOOK LIKE? __
“I’d like to have a podium that stands right in front of all the people in the middle of the city, where everyone can see it, even from their house - that would be cool.
“There are a lot of nice trophies. I really like Monaco’s trophy with the circuit on it and the ones from Zandvoort. There are so many!”

__ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD INCLUDE? __
“A way everybody can go in and see everything including the cars and how it all works from the first day, to try to inspire other people to get involved and to make the motorsport world even bigger.”
