Formula 3 in-season testing continues at Imola

There’s no time to rest for the 2023 Formula 3 grid. Four days after completing testing in Barcelona, the field are back out on track for their second in-season test at Imola.

Starting on Tuesday, the two days of running will be the drivers and teams’ final opportunity to embed their learnings and continue their preparations ahead of the start of the European phase of the season, which commences at the Italian circuit in May.

__WHAT TO EXPECT __

Running 18-19 April, each day of the official two-day test will once again be split into morning and afternoon sessions. Both days of morning running will get underway at 09:00 and end at noon. On Tuesday, the afternoon session will start at 14:00 and end at 17:00, whilst on Friday, running will take place from 13:30 to 16:30 (GMT +2).

Each car will have six sets of the yellow-walled Pirelli medium tyres to play with, plus three sets of wet tyres. This is the same compound that will be used for the Championship’s return to the venue on May 19-21.

Hunter Yeany will be absent from the opening day of testing, but the American driver will get back behind the wheel of the #21 Rodin Carlin car for Day 2.

__LAST TIME OUT __

• Gabriele Minì was the fastest driver out on track in Barcelona testing. Friday morning’s Qualifying simulation saw the Hitech Pulse-Eight driver clock in a 1:26.319.
• Celebrating their 30th Anniversary, Jenzer Motorsport took the honours of the second quickest time, with Taylor Barnard’s best effort only 0.063s off Minì’s time.
• Championship leader Gabriel Bortoleto was a familiar name at the top of the timing sheets. With back-to-back Feature Race victories to his name, the Trident racer led the way in both of Day 1’s sessions and Day 2’s afternoon running.
• 19 different drivers featured inside the top 10 across the two days.
• An impressive 4,389 laps were completed across the two days, with Minì also being the busiest driver, notching 174 laps to his name.
