Bruno’s Take Round 3

Challenge accepted

So far this season, it’s been all about PREMA Racing: The Italian squad have been outrageously dominant over the rest of the field with four wins from of four races. Last weekend began with more of the same, as Marcus Armstrong was quickest in both free practice and qualifying. Yet, Race 1 and 2 were won by non-PREMA racers. Firstly, it was Hitech Grand Prix’s Jüri Vips who claimed victory on Sunday, and then it was HWA RACELAB’s Jake Hughes who inherited the win on Sunday, after Armstrong and teammate Robert Shwartzman came together on the final lap. It is important to show that more teams can emerge from the pack and challenge the Italian squad for the top honours. Having said that, it is clear that the PREMA drivers are more consistent than the rest of the grid for now - a quick look at the Teams’ standings will tell you that. I’m impatient to see what will happen in Silverstone.

Showtime

The F3 races have been very entertaining since Barcelona and that is in part due to the fact that the drivers are giving 100% at every lap. We’ve seen a lot of overtaking throughout the field of thirty cars, even outside of the DRS zones. They fight hard for positions and points. We’ve also seen teammates putting huge pressure on each other, to the point of making contact… Like Armstrong and Shwartzman did for Sunday’s win! Almost two third of our drivers have now scored points. They all want to prove their worth and it’s wonderful to watch!

The Next Generation

Formula 3 is part of the new FIA ladder that was formed to guide young drivers towards the pinnacle of motorsport: Formula 1. On Saturday, a Red Bull driver (Vips), a Renault Academy driver (Max Fewtrell) and a Ferrari Academy driver (Armstrong) stood together on the podium of Race 1. F1’s future is on its way.
