PREMA Racing’s weekend in Spielberg had its moments but despite missing out on a podium, Team Principal René Rosin was enthusiastic about their progress.

The Italian outfit had two of three cars inside the top 12, as Noel León missed out by just 0.033s, and while he eventually lost P3 to a post-race penalty, Ugo Ugochukwu crossed the line third on Saturday.

After a difficult opening to the 2025 campaign, Rosin says the signs of growth are now clear, and he was pleased with the team and his drivers’ efforts across the weekend.

“Honestly, I think we have done – credit to the team with the drivers and the engineers working together,” he said reflecting on the weekend. “We bounced back into a position where we know we want to be.

“We were fighting for the top positions in Qualifying, nearly finished with all three cars in the top 12. We were fighting for the podium in the Sprint but had the overtake outside of track limits which compromised us.

“In the Feature, a points finish that could have had a podium. Some moves maybe weren’t the best to make but still, a really good bounce back in terms of performance.

“All three cars were competitive, had good pace over the weekend, we just need to build it up going into Silverstone now.”

Having secured eight points up to Spielberg, PREMA more than doubled their score for 2025 despite misfortune and mishaps lessening what could have been an even stronger weekend.

It was the team’s best-scoring round since Imola, an important round for them according to Rosin, as it was the start of their path to recovery according to the Team Principal.

While they weren’t able to take any silverware away from the Red Bull Ring, the lessons and improvements are hugely valuable going into the second half of the season.

“We’ve been working quite hard over the last period,” Rosin continued. “Imola, I saw some light at the end of the tunnel. There’s been some difficult weekends since the beginning of the season, but I was sure that altogether we could do a great job with the drivers and engineers.

“This weekend has now proved we’re going in the right direction, we just need to continue working and continue pushing like we always have, and the results will come soon.”

Fourth place on Saturday marked Ugochukwu’s best finish of the season so far, while teammate Brando Badoer earned his highest start on the F3 grid, achieving P9 in Qualifying.

Rosin says these results are evidence that both are continuing to learn as rookies, and with focus now on Silverstone, he says stronger results are on the way if they keep up their hard work.

“Both of them could have fought for the podium. I was already happy with their performance on Friday. We just need to continue working like we are doing.

“Don’t look in the past, concentrate race-by-race and do the best job possible, and I’m sure everything will get back to the position where we deserve.”
