Tim Tramnitz has made a fast start to life in FIA Formula 3, achieving a maiden podium in the Feature Race and is currently the highest-placed rookie in the Drivers’ Championship.

It’s about time then that we get to know more about the MP Motorsport driver ahead of Round 2 in Melbourne, Australia, where he’ll be aiming to keep the momentum going.

WHAT IS YOUR EARLIEST RACING MEMORY?

“When I was five and I stepped into a go-kart for the first time. It was in my hometown with a friend and my father as well, he organised everything. Driving around in a kart in a parking lot, that was my first memory. It was around cones doing a slalom in Hamburg.”

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR RACING STYLE?

“I would say it’s intelligent and surprising as well. Especially with overtaking, going late on the brakes. Hopefully I can do that a few times this year. These are the two biggest points. Quick as well. Naturally!”

WHO IS YOUR RACING HERO?

“My racing hero is Sebastian Vettel. I grew up watching him when he took his four World titles, that was the time where I started watching Formula 1 closely and can remember what I watched. He’s my favourite driver.”

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST RACING ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?

“Becoming vice champion in ADAC and Italian F4 in 2021. That was quite good. Last year I was able to finish third in FRECA. With that, I was able to become a Red Bull Junior Team member, which was a really big achievement too.”

HOW DO YOU RELAX AWAY FROM RACING?

“With my friends and on the sim. I mainly do iRacing. Since January I’ve started to do it a lot more again. It’s a lot of fun and I play with a few friends and my engineer from F4, it’s a lot of fun. I spend quite a lot of time with my friends when I’m at home as well.”

DO YOU HAVE A SECRET TALENT?

“This is a good question. I like to sing but I’m not good at it! I’d probably sing something more quiet, not too loud, just to calm down. Simple Plan is cool. Summer Paradise with Sean Paul, maybe that’s my go to at the moment.

“I think I’m quite good at swimming. I did it for eight years semi-professionally, but then when racing took over, I stopped. I still did it a few times but not at that level, but I think I was quite good at it.”

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE TRACK ON THE F3 CALENDAR?

“This is a tough one. Monaco is going to be cool for sure. Australia is special as well. To race so far away from home on a different continent will be cool.”
