Newly crowned FIA Formula 3 Champion Dennis Hauger took part in a Pirelli test at the wheel of the F3 development car, this week in Barcelona, Spain.

The two-day session took place on 4-5 October, running from 9am to 6pm local time. Weather conditions hindered the first day of testing slick tyres on a damp track, but on the second day, Hauger was able to complete 123 laps on a dry track.

The purpose of the test was twofold: firstly, to try and make racing in F3 even more demanding, and secondly, to develop the tyres and give the teams a new challenge in finding the right set-up from one year to another.

“We were pleased to have Dennis Hauger joining us for this two-day test session," said F3 Technical Director Didier Perrin. "His 2021 F3 season was very strong and it’s always good for us to have the newly crowned Champion at the wheel of our car for development tests.

“We had a very specific programme to go through – which had to be reduced due to bad weather on Day 1. Dennis’ feedback was good and useful to help us confirm some of the directions we want to take with the tyres for next year.”

2021 FIA Formula 3 Champion Dennis Hauger added: “I am very thankful for this opportunity. It is very interesting to see how the development team works. It is another side of a driver’s job, but an important one.

“It’s not about how fast you can go, but more about delivering what the development team needs for this specific session. It is a shame that the weather hampered our session yesterday, but we did plenty of laps today.”
