With the 2023 season in the books, we take a look back at the records that were broken, the statistics that stood out and the unbreakable markers that still stand.
From the Championship titles, poles, podiums to the average positions, closest finishes in F3 history and leading teams and drivers, here’s 2023 summarised in numbers.
Zak O’Sullivan and Franco Colapinto tied the record for most wins in F3 (4) Dennis Hauger, Jack Doohan and Frederik Vesti.
Zak O’Sullivan tied the record for grand chelems (2) with Dennis Hauger and Marcus Armstrong.
Gabriel Bortoleto achieved the best average Qualifying position across 2023 with 6.
Franco Colapinto is second for laps led in F3 (87), behind Dennis Hauger (91).
Franco Colapinto and Caio Collet tied the record with Victor Martins with eight races led in FIA Formula 3 history.
Paul Aron gained an average of 1.33 positions on the opening laps across the 2023 season, the most of any driver in 2023.
Taylor Barnard has the most points scored by a Jenzer Motorsport driver in a single F3 season (72).
Caio Collet holds the record for most podium finishes from starting outside the front row, with 9.
Franco Colapinto has led the highest total distance in Formula 3, heading the field for 469km in total.
2023 is tied with 2022 for the F3 season with the greatest number of different pole sitters across a single season (7).
Zak O’Sullivan and Taylor Barnard were the only two drivers classified in every race of the 2023 season.
Nikola Tsolov became the youngest driver to race in Formula 3 in Sakhir at 16yrs, 77 days old.
PREMA Racing broke 500 laps led in Formula 3, now on 517. Trident are second on that list with 275.

PREMA Racing broke the 2000 points barrier in 2023. The Italian outfit has scored the most points in F3 with 2056.5. Trident has the next best total, up to 1385.5 after the 2023 campaign.
The youngest podium of the year came in the Budapest Sprint Race courtesy of Gabriele Minì, Gabriel Bortoleto and Nikita Bedrin, with an average age of 18 years, 2 months and 23 days.
The Monza Feature Race was the first time in F3 all three podium finishers were from the same nation. Jonny Edgar, Zak O’Sullivan and Taylor Barnard completed an all-British podium.
The Melbourne Sprint Race was the third-closest finish in F3 of all time (0.219s), behind Budapest Race 1, 2021 and Silverstone Round 5, Race 2, 2020.
The Monza Feature Race is the tightest finish from first to 10th, with just 3.692s covering the top 10.
Spielberg Qualifying was the tightest F3 Qualifying session in history, with just 0.004s separating pole sitter Grégoire Saucy and Dino Beganovic in P2.
Car #3 has the most wins (11), poles (9) and fastest laps (12) in FIA Formula 3.
