David Schumacher will join Carlin Buzz Racing for the three remaining rounds of the 2020 FIA Formula 3 season. The German driver swaps Charouz Racing System for the British outfit and will link up with them ahead of this week’s event in Spa-Francorchamps.

Schumacher’s best finish this season with Charouz was 12th in Race 1 of Round 2, at Spielberg. The German initially made his F3 debut back in the 2019 season finale at Sochi with Campos Racing, and finished in 22nd and 20th in his maiden round. He then took part in post-season testing with Charouz, before competing in the FIA F3 World Cup in Macau, where he finished 21st.

“I haven’t quite had the season I hoped for so far”, said Schumacher. “I want to thank the Charouz team for all their efforts over the last few months and wish them all the best for the future.

“I look forward to this new challenge now with Carlin and will be pushing hard to end the season with some strong results. Thank you to my sponsors Trilux, Dekra, Ravenol and Top Marketing for their continued support.”

The 18-year-old is the son of ex-Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher and has already enjoyed success in his fledging single-seater career. Schumacher was the 2018 UAE F4 vice-champion and also scored three wins in 2019 Formula Regional European Championship.

“We’re excited to welcome David to the team,” added Team Principal Trevor Carlin. “He has shown plenty of potential and we look forward to working with him for the remainder of the 2020 season.

“We don’t have much time to prepare together for Spa but the team are working hard to make sure we’re in good shape for the start of the weekend.”
