Callum Voisin is just getting started in FIA Formula 3 having made the step up with Rodin Motorsport for the 2024 season.

With two rounds experience in the bank, the British rookie is here to tell us more about himself before heading to Imola for Round 3.

FIRST RACING MEMORY

“It was probably Monaco 2008, the F1 GP. I used to live in Monaco in my early days so I remember them being extremely loud and I did not like the noise to be perfectly honest, but I would say that is my first racing memory.”

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR RACING STYLE?

“Smooth but aggressive.”

WHO IS YOUR RACING HERO?

“Probably Lewis Hamilton. I grew up watching him, especially in the Mercedes, winning so many titles and obviously having a few title battles with his teammates and Sebastian Vettel. I would probably say Hamilton but at the end of the day I am trying to make a name for myself.”

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST RACING ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?

“For sure winning the GB3 Championship last year. It was something we had worked towards for two years with the Rodin team and to finally get it done in the last race of the last weekend was very special.”

WHAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING A RACING DRIVER?

“The thrill you get from it. There is nothing like it anywhere else in the world. It's something truly special when you can go round and hook a quali lap up. Winning doesn't happen very often but when it does it's the best feeling I can assure you. It's hard to describe winning, but to see all that hard work, all that dedication, everything you have put into it, knowing that you have outperformed everybody else is very satisfying for sure.”

HOW DO YOU RELAX AWAY FROM RACING?

“I am still at school, so I don't know how much relaxing I do but I think it's quite nice because I kind of balance my normal life and racing life. The fact that I can go back to school and be normal Callum again, it's nice to switch up especially after a bad weekend or something like that. Not thinking about racing too much because I am focused on my school work is a healthy balance. My friends follow the racing so they do hear about it, maybe I wouldn't talk about the bad races as much as the wins, but when it's the wins I go all out.”

DO YOU HAVE ANY SECRET TALENTS OUTSIDE OF RACING?

“I wouldn't say like secret party trick talent, but I am pretty decent at skiing. I used to do a lot of race skiing when I was younger. But obviously once I discovered racing and started racing a lot more that kind of took over. But I do try and get back up to the mountains for two weeks a year during the winter to just switch off. I love the mountains.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE TRACK ON THE FORMULA 3 CALENDAR?

“The one I am most looking forward to is probably Monaco. It's the glitz and glamour of motorsport, it's probably the most prestigious race you can win in all of motorsport. But I think my favourite track that I have driven and also one I am really looking forward to is Silverstone. Seeing the British fans, they go crazy. I've been lucky enough to watch the Grand Prix the last two years in a row and it's very special. It would be very special to win there but let's see how it goes.”
