Chovanec given permission to start from the back of the grid

Charouz Racing System’s Zdenek Chovanec will take part in both the Sprint and Feature Races at the Red Bull Ring, having been granted permission by the Stewards to start from the back of the grid.
Chovanec failed to set a time with the 107% cut-off during Friday’s Qualifying session. He stopped on the exit of Turn 1 and brought out the Red Flag with two minutes of running remaining. His best time was a 1:27.895.
The Stewards determined that his lap time of 1:21.441 from Free Practice was sufficient to take part in the races, starting from 30th.
