Alessandro Giusti is delighted that not only will be returning for a second season in Formula 3, but he gets to do so in familiar surroundings at MP Motorsport, as he sets his sights on the title in 2026.

The Frenchman impressed in his rookie year, achieving two podiums, before finishing the season 10th in the Standings with 67 points – one of five rookies to end 2025 in the top 10.

Giusti is now confirmed to be returning for another campaign in F3, and to be doing so with MP, as well as with his engineer, Antoine Broquin, makes him excited about what is to come in 2026.

“Firstly, I am comfortable with the team, they are like a family to me,” says Giusti when asked about continuing with the Dutch outfit. “I'm happy to be here, and to stay for a second year.

“The car is fast, and we will try to improve it over the winter, so that we can fight for the title next year.

“I think to do a second year with a team you already know is quite good for confidence. To know the people around you is good.

“I have a very good relationship with Antoine, the engineers are all French, so it's good for me. It’s important to have a good relationship with the team, especially in the second year when we need to fight for the top places.”

RETURNING AFTER A ‘SO-SO’ CAMPAIGN

In order to fight for those top places, Giusti knows exactly where he and MP have to improve in 2026, after a campaign of mixed results.

For example, the Frenchman was impressed with his race pace and the consistency he showed at the start of the season – finishing in the points in nine of the first 12 races.

After a point-less round at Silverstone, Giusti finished in the points at four of the last five races. However, these results were often in the lower end of the top 10.

The 19-year-old says this was largely caused by their Qualifying issues, as he qualified in the top 12 in just five rounds.

“It was a so-so season I would say,” reflects Giusti. “It was a bit frustrating because the pace we had on some weekends, we did not convert it into top results, but the pace was positive.

“It was great, but it was also quite tough because F3 is really tight, and you need to nail quali, which we did not.

“At the beginning of the season, we were very strong with our race pace, we just needed to qualify higher. It was quite good at the beginning, so we need to work on it for next year.

“In F3, you only have one push lap, and the one that matters is the last one. You make a mistake and it's over, you start outside the top 12, which is not good. That's where it's so tight.

“For example in Budapest, I was in P9, a tenth from P3 and a tenth ahead of P18. So it's really tight, and if you make a mistake of a tenth, you are outside of the top 12 and your weekend is very different.”

A GOOD SINGLE SEATER RECORD

If this improves, Giusti is confident that he can win with MP, something he could not do in 2025, as for the first time in his single seater career, he went an entire season without winning a race.

But even with that, the Williams Driver Academy member does not view his rookie campaign as disappointing, explaining that “when you get closer to F1, it gets harder and harder. It was great but it was also quite tough because F3 is really tight.”

Overall though, the 2022 French F4 Champion feels his performances until now have been strong, even though as he mentions, he is still a little frustrated to have finished fourth in the 2024 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.

“I think it has been quite strong,” said Giusti reflecting on his career to date. “I am a little frustrated with last year though, a season where I felt we could have fought for the title, and we did not.

“At the beginning of the year we struggled a lot and then we had a bit of bad luck at the end of the year, where we were fast, and we finished P4 in the Championship, three points behind P3. So I was disappointed with my second season in FRECA.

“I think my career in single seaters has been quite good though, always learning in my first year, having some good podiums, victories and fighting for the title in the second year. This was not the case in FRECA, but hopefully it will be the same next year.”

FUTURE PLANS WITH WILLIAMS

Giusti’s focus as of right now is to prepare for the upcoming campaign, but this is all part of the bigger goal of getting to Formula 1 one day “as fast as possible” with Williams.

The French driver spends a lot of time at the team’s factory in Grove, England, working in their simulator, and also talking with their current Formula 2 drivers Luke Browning and Victor Martins.

“I have a good relationship with both,” reveals Giusti. “Luke, I have known since joining Williams, he is a good guy. Victor, I've known him for a long time, I think since 2017.

“His brother was my mechanic in go kart, in real competitions he was my mechanic, so that's where I met him. He is French so that helps, but I have a good relationship with both.”

Giusti though is now hoping to fight for the title in his second season in F3, just as Browning and Martins did, with the latter winning the Championship in 2022.

PREMA Racing season review: A year of lessons

The Frenchman is keen to build on everything he learned in his rookie year, and to build on what he and MP did well.

“I think the positive is that we are strong in pace, race pace especially,” says Giusti. “I know how to manage the car, the starts, how to deal with attacking and defending, it's been quite strong all year.

“I always move up in the races, so it has been quite strong. So I just need to qualify in the top 10 at every round, it's important, so that's the big thing for next year.”
