Carlin Buzz Racing have confirmed that American racer Logan Sargeant will join their FIA Formula 3 team for the upcoming 2019 season. 18-year-old Sargeant, who knows the Surrey based Carlin team well following a race-winning season together in 2017, completes the team’s line-up for the inaugural season of the FIA Formula 3 Championship.

Sargeant has a great history of racing behind him; in 2017 he raced with Carlin in British Formula 4, during which time he took two fantastic wins on his way to finishing third overall in the championship standings in his rookie season. Prior to this he was the Formula 4 UAE vice champion in only his first season racing single seaters.

Moving in to the highly competitive Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Championship for the 2018 season he continued his race winning ways and took three victories as well as two pole positions and seven podiums. His consistent strong form on track ensured that he sat fourth overall as the season concluded.

Sargeant becomes the final driver to be announced in the Carlin Buzz Racing team alongside Teppei Natori and Felipe Drugovich as they take on the 2019 season in the inaugural FIA Formula 3 Championship. The car, complete with the new addition of the FIA mandatory halo, will be on track for the first official test in Paul Ricard on March 20th.

Sargeant said: “I am super happy to be joining Carlin for the 2019 FIA Formula 3 Championship. We’ve had great success together in the past in F4 and I can’t wait to be back with them. I have high expectations and I know if we continue to work together well as a team we can bring this form over to Formula 3.

We definitely have the potential to be right at the front so I have no doubt that we can fight for the championship.”

Team Principal Trevor Carlin said: “It is fantastic to welcome Logan back to Carlin for the upcoming 2019 season. We last worked together in 2017 in the British Formula 4 Championship, so we know him well and know how great he is to work with. Logan has matured so much in and out of the car since we last worked with him and I’m really excited to see what he can do this season with all of us here at Carlin Buzz Racing."
