As life in Formula 3 begins, Kanato Le is one of three drivers proudly representing Japan on this year’s grid.

The ART Grand Prix rookie gives us a tour of Tokyo, telling us about his childhood, his favourite things to do at home, and the places everybody should visit when they visit Japan’s capital city.

“I was born in Tokyo, Japan, and I lived there for 12 years before I moved to the UK. Obviously, Japan is really nice. I love the food, I love the culture, and the people.

“I really miss my home country because I obviously live in the UK now, which is now my second home, and that's also really nice.

“I think being away from Japan, I have been able to learn about different cultures as well. Of course I miss Japan, but I think the UK is not a bad place as well.

“When I was younger, I used to play video games with my friends quite a lot. Sometimes we'd go on trips together, maybe a ski trip.

“I really like skiing and the snow is really nice in Japan, also just eating together and I guess just playing tag in the park and games like that.

“Nowadays, I go back once a year during Christmas. It's quite cold. But if you go up north, so when I go skiing, it's super cold, like minus 15 degrees. It's quite cold. Tokyo though is not too cold, so it's really nice. But for skiing it's freezing.

“First off, I think not just in Tokyo, but you have to go to the convenience store. The food's nice, cheap, and really good. That's one of my favourite places to go.

“I think obviously going to Shibuya. I think it's pretty mainstream now, but the Shibuya crossing is pretty cool.

“I think another place you should go is Tokyo Skytree. It's a really nice place. You can see the whole of Tokyo. It's a really good place to have a look.”
