Rafael Villagomez, Victor Martins and Amaury Cordeel have been served with time penalties following today’s Race 3 at the Hungaroring.

Villagomez has received two five-second time penalties. The first penalty was given after it was determined that the HWA RACELAB driver had caused a collision with Ido Cohen. The Mexican attempted to overtake the Carlin driver approaching Turn 2. Villagomez was on the inside in wet conditions and oversteered into Cohen, causing the Israeli to spin.

The Stewards determined that Villagomez was wholly responsible for the collision, but took the wet conditions into account when determining the penalty. The Mexican driver had finished P23 and now classifies 24th.

Villagomez’ second penalty is for forcing Reshad de Gerus off track. The Stewards determined that De Gerus had earned the right to use the track as he was sufficiently alongside Villagomez at the exit of Turn 14. However, Villagomez still made full use of the track and did not leave a car width as required.

Martins has also received a five-second time penalty. The MP Motorsport driver tried to overtake in very wet conditions on the inside of Turn 9. However, the Frenchman locked his brakes and collided into the side of Oliver Rasmussen’s car.

The Stewards found that Martins was wholly responsible for the contact. He had finished in last place, P27, and remains in that position with the penalty applied.

Finally, Cordeel has been found guilty of causing a collision with Roman Stanek. The Campos Racing driver tried to pass the Hitech Grand Prix man through Turn 13. Cordeel was on the inside in wet conditions and oversteered into Stanek, causing the Czech to spin.

The Stewards determined that the Belgian was wholly responsible, but did take the wet conditions into account. Cordeel had finished P25 and now classifies P26.
