Hitech Grand Prix have announced that Formula Regional driver Pierre-Louis Chovet will join the team for Round 7 at Spa-Francorchamps, replacing the departed Max Fewtrell.

The Frenchman will join Red Bull juniors Liam Lawson and Dennis Hauger at the British team for Round 7. The news follows Monday’s announcement that Fewtrell was to part ways with HItech, after six rounds.

The 18-year-old made his single-seater debut in 2017, in French Formula 4. He competed in nine rounds, winning once. Chovet then stepped up to the Championship full-time in 2018, finishing in sixth place, with one win and four podiums.

“I’m extremely proud and excited to participate in the next FIA F3 round with Hitech GP, one of the top F3 teams,” Chovet said. “I know it’s going to be a huge challenge, but I will do everything I can to give the team as strong as a result as they deserve. I’ll be working hard with Liam and Dennis, to ensure I deliver.”

Chovet has been racing in Formula Regional this season, and currently sits sixth in the standings, taking two podiums in the previous round at Paul Ricard.

Fewtrell’s replacement for rounds eight and nine will be confirmed at a later date.
