PREMA Racing have completed their driver line-up for the 2022 campaign, announcing the signing of Red Bull junior Jak Crawford, who spent the 2021 campaign with Hitech Grand Prix.

Dovetailing his season in F3 with one in Euroformula Open, 16-year-old Crawford finished 13th in the F3 Drivers’ Championship with 45 points and one podium, second in Race 1 at Spa-Francorchamps.

Despite missing two rounds of the Euroformula campaign due to his F3 commitments, Crawford took eight wins and a further two podiums to finish third in the standings.

Making his debut with PREMA at post-season testing in Valencia, Crawford finished five out of the six sessions in the top 10 and led the second day overall. In preparation for his F3 campaign, Crawford will take on the Formula Regional Asian Championship with Abu Dhabi Racing by PREMA.

"I’m very excited to be joining PREMA for a second season of FIA F3 as well as contesting the Formula Regional Asian Championship with them," said Crawford, who will be joined at PREMA by Ferrari Academy duo Arthur Leclerc and Oliver Bearman.

I am very much looking forward to building on what I learned last year in my rookie season, and hoping to emulate the success that other drivers have had with the team in the past. FIA F3 will be the main focus for me this year and I am eager to get the season underway."

Crawford started his single-seater career in 2018, taking second place in the NACAM Formula 4 Championship and moving to the USF 2000 Championship for 2019.

In 2020, he moved to the European racing scene, joining the Red Bull Junior Team and finishing second in the ADAC Formula 4 Championship.

“We have always kept a close eye on Jak,” added PREMA Team Principal René Rosin. “He established himself as one of the most promising drivers since his Formula 4 days, and finally working together will be extremely interesting. I’m sure that there is enough potential to aim high for 2022.

“We already had the chance to work with him in testing, and we look forward to continuing that process in the Formula Regional Asian Championship. I’m equally delighted to continue our work with the Red Bull Junior Team in order to develop the next generation of high-profile racing drivers.”
