Pedro Piquet back with Trident for 2019 FIA F3 challenge

The partnership between 20-year-old Brazilian Pedro Piquet and Trident will continue for 2019. Running under the Italian team’s banner, the young South American ace has been one of the stars of last season’s GP3 Series with two wins and four podium finishes to his name and cruised to sixth place overall in the Driver Standings.

Piquet's wins came on really prestigious and challenging tracks like Silverstone and Monza, so his potential with Trident emerged clearly in what has been his best season to date.

Although still young, Piquet has a great deal of experience including a winning debut in the Brazilian Formula 3 championship, with two titles achieved. He then moved to European Formula 3 competition and, in 2018, to the GP3 Series. He is now targeting a successful season in FIA Formula 3.

Pedro Piquet said: “I am really motivated for the season ahead, which will see me race with Team Trident in the FIA Formula 3 Championship. I experienced a great 2018 season with them, scoring two wins and several podium finishes. For 2019 I am sure that we have everything we need to do even better and challenge for the title.”

Trident Team manager Giacomo Ricci added: “Pedro’s talent and potential are undeniable. I am delighted to see him continue in his quest for Formula 1 wearing the Trident colours. The team will put up its best effort to support him and enable him to achieve his career goals. He will be part of an extremely competitive line-up that has the potential to write a new chapter of our successful history in the category.”
