Interview
Enzo Deligny is confident that he and Van Amersfoort Racing have what it takes to fight at the front in 2026.
The French driver joins the team for his debut season in Formula 3, and does so with a strong resume, especially after positive 2025 campaign.
Deligny finished fifth in the Formula Regional Middle East Championship before ending up third in the European category and in the Macau Grand Prix later that year.
The 17-year-old is now preparing for his debut F3 season, having had a three days of pre-season testing with VAR in Barcelona, and he believes they can have a positive 2026 together.
“I definitely want to show my potential, that I can fight in the front,” said Deligny speaking ahead of testing. “I know I can do that, so it's just about minimising my mistakes and being consistent but then also trying to have high peaks and fight at the front.
“I can't wait to get the proper season started now. Only three days of testing now so I have to quickly get on top of things and then straight to Melbourne.”
Deligny joined VAR prior to the test and he spoke about his first few days with the Dutch outfit, and why his compatriot, Théophile Nael’s performance in 2025 – when he eighth – with the team gives him confidence.
“It's been very good,” said Deligny on joining the team. “They've been very welcoming and I'm very confident with them, so I'm confident in the season ahead that we're going to do a good job.
“Théo did quite a decent first year with them, so it shows me that the car is definitely good and if I do a good job I can be in the front.”
Deligny revealed that he had been preparing for the season at home, doing plenty of “simulator and physical training” to get ready for the year.
When asked what he had to adapt to the most, the French driver said: “Mainly the learning of the tyres, that is quite a big part.
“Understanding the tyres, understanding the warm-up, the peak of the tyre and then in the race, how the tyres degrade, how the tyres fall off. That was the biggest part.”
As Deligny continued to preview the season, he revealed which tracks he is most looking forward to racing at in 2026.
“Melbourne and Monaco,” he responded. “Monaco is really cool. Obviously, it's the first time I'm driving there and I think it's definitely a cool milestone to drive there. As a driver, I am really excited to go there.”
