Bent Viscaal will return for a second season of Formula 3, linking up with compatriots MP Motorsport for the 2020 campaign.

The Dutchman is re-joining the side who he enjoyed success with in SMP and Spanish F4. Viscaal made his single-seater debut back in 2017, taking second place in both Championships, with a total of nine wins. The following season, the 20-year-old was the vice-champion in the 2018 Euroformula Open Championship.

Making the step up to F3 last season with HWA RACELAB, Viscaal scored a best finish of fifth at Le Castellet. He ended up with 10 points overall, finishing 15th in the Drivers’ Standings.

"It is nice to return to the old nest for my second season in FIA F3", says Viscaal. "MP Motorsport showed well in FIA F3 last year, culminating in that spectacular victory in the FIA Formula 3 World Cup in Macau. I aim to continue this trend with the team. I can’t wait to get started with the first test!"

MP Motorsport finished sixth in their first season of F3, taking two podiums and 77 points overall, as well as winning the FIA F3 World Cup in Macau, with fellow Dutchman Richard Verschoor.

Viscaal is their first driver confirmation ahead of official pre-season testing in March at Bahrain.

"To Bent I would like to say – welcome home!" said Sander Dorsman, team manager at MP Motorsport. "In 2017, we achieved great results together in Formula 4, and it’s our firm plan to be as energetic in 2020 as in our first year of cooperation. We look forward to another season with Bent."
