Ido Cohen has received a 10-second time penalty, converted to a five-place grid drop, for causing a collision with Hugh Barter in Round 2’s Sprint Race.

On Lap 6, Barter was ahead of the Rodin Carlin driver on the left before the approach to Turn 9. The Stewards found that Cohen attempted to overtake the Campos Racing car on the outside right, having been left ample room by Barter to continue his manoeuvre. His front wing clipped the Australian’s rear tyre, causing Barter to lose control and retire from the race, whilst Cohen was left with a rear puncture and had to continue driving back to the pits.

As the time penalty could not be served in-race, Cohen will now start the Feature Race in Melbourne from P28.
