Jenzer Motorsport have recruited Giorgio Carrara as part of their driver line-up in the FIA Formula 3 Championship.

The Argentine racer will join Yuki Tsunoda and Andreas Estner as part of their three-man team and will make his F3 debut at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, this weekend. He replaces Russian driver Artem Petrov.

The 18-year-old, who holds a Swiss licence, is no stranger to the Jenzer team, having driven for them for over two years, in Italian F4 and Spanish F4.

He previously raced in karting for seven years between 2010 and 2016, before moving into single-seaters with Jenzer in 2017, in the Italian F4 Championship, where he finished in 14th position.

He improved on this in 2018, securing 7th in the Championship, before returning to the series again this year, alongside Spanish F4, where he currently sits in second place.

On stepping up to F3, Carrara said: “I was secretly hoping that this opportunity might come up! It would have been the plan anyway to take part in the post-season testing to prepare to compete next season in this category. I am very much looking forward to this experience!”

Team Principal Andreas Jenzer added: “It is a good chance for Giorgio to have this early experience at this level. We know each other well and the team is clearly fully supporting him, as we want him to be prepared in the best way possible for the next season.”
