MP Motorsport have added Lukas Dunner to their driver line-up for 2020, with the 17-year-old joining Bent Viscaal at the Dutch outfit. The 17-year-old returns to MP Motorsport, having originally made his motorsport debut with the Dutch team back in 2017.

The Vienna-born racer steps up following a successful campaign in EuroFormula Open, where he finished third with a total of six podiums.

Dunner first tasted F3 machinery with the Dutch side at post-season testing at Valencia, Spain, before competing in the FIA F3 World Cup, in Macau. The Austrian impressed with a 12th placed finish, in amongst more experienced racers.

“It feels good to be back home," said Dunner. “I couldn’t think of a better environment for my promotion to FIA F3 level, as I have fond memories of my F4 season with MP three years ago.

“Together with Bent, I’m sure we will make an impact on the series, and in my debut season I hope to learn from his experience in FIA F3.”

Dunner made his single-seater debut with MP motorsport back in 2017, in SMP and Spanish F4, before his step up to EuroFormula Open. His career includes several LMP2 and LMP3 forays in the ELMS and VdeV Endurance Series. While the versatile Austrian also has rallying experience, in a Skoda Fabia R5.

MP Motorsport finished sixth in 2019 F3 Championship, with two podiums and 77 points, as well as overseeing Richard Verschoor’s FIA F3 World Cup win in Macau.

“It’s a joy to welcome Luki back into the team," said MP’s team manager Sander Dorsman. “He has developed well in the two seasons since, and I’m positive that he will be an asset to our FIA F3 team.

“With Bent and Lukas, our line-up for 2020 is shaping up really well, and I can’t wait to go racing with these guys.”
