Interview
Returning with Rodin Motorsport for a second Formula 3 campaign, Callum Voisin is full of confidence going into the Championship’s new era.
While the introduction of a brand-new car leaves plenty of unknowns going into the 2025 season, it’s the familiarity for Voisin that has fuelled a positive outlook ahead of the racing getting underway.
“I’m very excited,” Voisin began. “A lot of work went into last year to make everything happen and again this year. But I’m feeling confident. I think everybody in the team is working very well together. I’m working well with them. I’ve now got a good relationship with all the engineers and team personnel.
“I’m very excited for the new car and to get started in Barcelona in a couple weeks’ time. As long as we keep working hard as we have done, I think I’ve got the minerals to win.”

Coming back to the Championship after a very impressive second half of 2024, the British driver says that the gains in performance were a long time coming for him and the team.
After finding his footing in the early rounds and with the team finding speed race after race, a positive result was overdue Voisin argues. While his official maiden victory had to wait until Spa-Francorchamps, the Rodin driver says that the Silverstone weekend was a turning point in the campaign and says that the team have high expectations as a result going into 2025.
“I think that was down to a mix of driver and car. I think the team got better throughout the year, then at the same time, I needed to improve, so it wasn’t just on them.
“Ever since Silverstone – to be honest we had that sort of pace a bit earlier on in the year as well, but we never really managed to show it and get it over the line. So those results weren’t really a surprise for us. I think that’s what we were seeing in the data and what the potential was.
“I don’t see any reason why we can’t replicate that and go even better this year.”
Reflecting more in depth about his rookie season, Voisin says that he learned plenty from start to finish, but the most important learnings related to approach to a race weekend.
Arriving to the majority of the rounds last year on the back foot having to learn circuits, this year Voisin will have experienced it all as the calendar remains unchanged from last season.
It’s a huge boost that he believes could make all the difference along with the important lessons he took from his maiden F3 campaign.
“Qualifying is probably the most important session of the weekend. But then, saying that, Practice is a lot more important than people might realise. Obviously, the better FP you have, the easier you make your life for the rest of the weekend.

“So in terms of what I’ve learned the most, I guess it’s tyre preparation and feedback, those are probably the most important factors along with anticipating the track.
“The conditions change throughout the weekend with the Formula 1 rubber going down, different times of day when you’re out on track, different temperatures, wind direction, so it’s probably anticipating the conditions each time you’re on track.
“I think it’ll make a huge difference that the calendar has stayed the same. For second year drivers like myself, last year I hadn’t been to many of the tracks at all, even the ones in Europe as I had never done Formula Regional and whatnot.
“So this year, that’s a big boost for me. Knowing that every time I turn up to the track, I know what to expect rather than kind of having to find my feet in FP and then going straight into Qualifying. So that’s great and it only plays into our hands.”
Arguably the biggest difference this time around however is that Voisin enters the year as one of just six drivers on the 2025 grid to have previously stood on the top step in F3.
That winning feeling along with his maiden Pole Position at Spa last year means there is just one big accolade left, and he believes he has all the tools at his disposal now to make a major push this year.
“It’s very much a confidence booster. For me certainly, it’s knowing that Rodin and I are a winning combination. Having that confidence that I’ve already done what is the second biggest thing you can do in a Championship outside of winning it outright.
“From my side, I think I know what I need to do to win races, and I know what I need in order to maximise every race and qualifying session. So it’s just knowing that I can do it and that I’ve got the team behind me to do it as well.”
“I think continuity and loyalty in motorsport are quite underrated"
Returning with Rodin once again mirrors an early career move that resulted in success. Voisin was crowned GB3 Champion back in 2023 ahead of his F3 promotion.
Trusting his second campaign to the same outfit, he says that all the formalities are long in the memory, and 2025 will be fully focused on maximising performance at every turn, something he says can only be a benefit.
“What’s really important is that the Barcelona test – we’re going to need to be on it straight away. Without having to learn or get to know all the engineers, team managers, mechanics and what not, that just makes your life much easier.
“I think continuity and loyalty in motorsport are quite underrated. I think people can underestimate the difference it actually does make, so from my side I’m happy.
“It’s a similar move to the one I did in GB3 for two years and obviously that ended up going quite well – sticking with the same team and going again. Hopefully we can replicate that and if we can, I’ll be pretty happy come the end of the year.”
