After the thrilling 2024 FIA Formula 3 campaign, Leonardo Fornaroli finally got his hands on the Drivers’ Champion trophy.

Presented to him by Mario Isola, Pirelli’s Motorsport Director, he also received a cheque that will help the Italian driver in the next steps of his career.

Fornaroli was impressive all season long, securing the most points finishes of anyone on the grid, taking seven podiums and two pole positions across the year.

He fought off five other drivers in the season finale at Monza, making a title-clinching pass at the last corner of the final race to capture the F3 title in one of the most dramatic finales in Championship history.

After accepting his award, Fornaroli said that the year had been amazing and thanked his Trident team for their work in helping him capture ‘the biggest trophy of my career.’

“It’s a special feeling, finally all of the hard work we’ve put in started to pay off. To finally have this trophy, the biggest of my career so far, I’m super happy. This trophy represents all the hard work we’ve put in across these two years in F3. I grew up and developed as a driver a lot thanks to Trident. Finally, to have this special feeling – it’s incredible and I can’t thank the team enough.”

Pirelli’s Isola added that they were committed to helping talent shine through the FIA pyramid and that Fornaroli was a hugely deserving recipient of the grant and F3 Champion.

“Pirelli has always been committed to promoting young talent and we are delighted to be able to contribute once again this year to the future of the winner of the FIA Formula 3 Championship. Leonardo Fornaroli won the title at the end of an incredibly exciting season, from the first to the last kilometre: the Monza finale was beautiful.

"Consistency has been his forte: no retirements in twenty races, only two placings outside the top ten, these are remarkable numbers. It's a pity he never made it onto the first step of the podium but I do feel that becoming Champion in this way makes his achievement all the more remarkable.”
