Arvid Lindblad wins Mecachrome Outstanding Win Award for Silverstone Feature Race performance

Rookie Arvid Lindblad made history earlier this year at Silverstone, becoming the first Formula 3 driver to sweep a race weekend by winning both the Sprint and Feature Races.
The Red Bull Junior Team driver capitalised on unpredictable conditions on Sunday, to go from nearly last at one stage to the top step of the podium for PREMA Racing.
Rain prior to lights out led to the majority of the field opting to start on the Wet Pirelli tyres, though as it eased on the formation lap, many pitted for slicks.
The dry tyres proved to be the better compound as conditions slowly improved, the race coming to those that pitted for slicks including Lindblad.
Another twist was to come though, as more rain arrived and soaked the track to move conditions back towards Wet tyres.
It looked like things would stay that way but into the final stages of the race, the track once again became dry enough for slicks, allowing Lindblad to go on one final charge, moving up to P2 before the end. It was enough to see him promoted to P1 after Callum Voisin’s time penalty was applied after the chequered flag.
He was recognised by Mecachrome at the end of season Prize Giving Ceremony, where he accepted the trophy and said the weekend was a special one with his family in attendance to see him win.
“It was amazing. I’ve said many times, it was beyond my wildest dreams, to win at home and to do both after not racing at home for five years was amazing. It couldn’t have been any better with my family there and it meant so much, so I’m really happy.
