Brando Badoer is taking plenty of positives from the Barcelona weekend, as he and Rodin Motorsport continued to secure important points in Round 3.

Having won the Monte Carlo Feature Race the week prior, the Italian driver earned himself two top 10 finishes on Spanish soil, including P4 in the Feature on Sunday.

Reflecting on the weekend and the positive wave of momentum he and the team are enjoying, Badoer says it was a big point of satisfaction leaving Barcelona.

“I feel good, I think we made a strong weekend with the team. Coming here, we knew it wasn’t going to be as easy as in Monaco, but still we got away with a good haul of points which is important in a championship.

“Double points finish, P4 on Grand Prix Sunday, definitely satisfied that the team has been working well. I drove a good race and I’m looking forward to the Red Bull Ring in a couple of weeks.”

Speaking more in depth about the weekend, the Rodin driver noted how difficult the races are around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with tyre management crucial to success.

He said that the early part of Sunday’s race was spent managing the Hard compound Pirelli tyres in order to have performance left at the end.

It was a strategy that paid off, as he was able to make use of the rubber in the second half of the race to progress up the order, winding up fourth in the classification and securing more important points for the team.

“It's always a bit strategic on the Grand Prix Sundays because of course the race is longer here in Barcelona, you drive the track and you know it’ll be in high temperatures.

“I tried to manage the initial part of the race, and I had some juice left for the end which I was able to use passing a couple of cars and finishing P4.”

Badoer’s fourth place continued the points-scoring streak of the British-based team, a run of form that stretches back to the opening race of the year and Melbourne’s Sprint Race.

Rodin has scored in every race this season, and Badoer believes there’s potential for that run to continue heading to Round 4 and Spielberg in just under a fortnight’s time.

“We are here to win and to maximise the results when we can't win. That's what we wanted at the beginning of the season as well as what we were preparing for in the pre-season testing.

“I know I have the potential to do it, and I believe the team has the potential to do it as well. As I've always said, I'm feeling really strong with the team, it feels like a family to me so you know we all keep pushing in the same direction and let's see what the outcome will be at the end.”
