Sargeant’s Guest Column: I really think we maximised Qualifying

Logan Sargeant claimed his best results of the season in Spa, scoring points in all three races for the first time this season and continuing his impressive progress with Charouz Racing System – who are enjoying their best season to date at this level.
The American takes control of this week’s guest column to pen his thoughts on their improvements in Qualifying and how they can continue to improve in Zandvoort.
__ONE GOOD POINT – MAXIMISING QUALIFYING __
Our Qualifying performance was one really good point from the weekend. I really think that we maximised Qualifying. To be honest, we could have maybe even pushed up into the top three if we had gotten that last lap when the red flag came out. But all in all, the goal was to get into the top five in Qualifying and we managed to do that.

ONE BAD POINT – FALLING OFF IN RACE 3
Not getting it right in Race 3. Unfortunately, we started to fall off around halfway through the race, when we were hoping to try and stay up in the top five positions. It was disappointing, but it’s something that we can learn from and use to get better and improve moving forward.
WHAT I LEARNED – UTILIZING MY NOTES
I took notes from Race 1 and knew that I needed to be more aggressive in the first lap of the race when the spray was heavy, and I couldn’t really see anything. For Race 3, I was able to do that, and I was much more aggressive and held my position, so I was happy with that.

__YOU MAY HAVE MISSED – FRESH CONTENT __
No particularly funny or unusually stories, but we did have some interviews with Race Service and got some cool videos and photographs from that, so it will be cool to see the final product.
__NEXT TIME OUT – ZANDVOORT __
I am pretty excited because I haven’t ever been around there. For that reason, it will be pretty tricky, but I have confidence in myself to figure it out. I had to do the same last year in Mugello and we were able to qualify right at the front.
The plan will be to replicate that in Zandvoort and try to put a good Qualifying together. After that, hopefully we can be in a position to have a good few races there.
