Beach life, famous temples, and plenty of culture: Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak on his hometown of Bangkok
PHM AIX Racing’s Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak is the first Thai driver to make it on to the FIA Formula 3 grid and we felt it was about time we got to know a bit more about him and his home country.
The rookie driver opened up about growing up in Bangkok, Thailand before also giving us a guide to the best places to visit for some good food and if you want to take in some of the local culture.

WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?
“I was born in Thailand, in Bangkok which is the capital city. I grew up there until the age of 14, so I've spent most of my life there, and I went to an international school which is where I got my English. But after that, from the age of 14 I moved to live in England for racing.”
WHAT LANGUAGES ARE SPOKEN THERE?
“In Thailand you speak Thai.”
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE IT TO SOMEONE WHO’S NEVER BEEN?
“I'd say it's pretty crazy. The capital city is pretty hectic because there is a lot of traffic but believe me it's very nice. Maybe I'm a bit bias because it's where I'm from but we have good beaches, as everyone might know Phuket and Samui for example. So, we have some pretty nice beaches, but I'd still say the city is pretty crazy.”
WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE?
“The same all year around. There are no seasons like in other countries. There is only rainy season and summer, so it's basically hot all year which I prefer.”
WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND FOR SOMEONE WHO’S VISITING FOR THE FIRST TIME?
“Maybe to see the culture. The culture is definitely different to anywhere else in the world, and there are so many places you can visit. There are famous temples, and again one of the beaches is really good location to have a vacation there with the family, so I’d probably say those.
WHERE SHOULD PEOPLE GO FOR FOOD?
“To be honest you can find good food everywhere in Thailand. But in Bangkok let's say anything you can find is really good. You can get good Italian places, or some sushi and of course Thai food, so anywhere would be good.”
WHERE CAN WE GO KARTING THERE?
“There are many rental kart places in the centre but the only karting track we have is in Pattaya. So, it's around one hour from the capital city and it's called Bira circuit. It is named after Prince Bira, who was the first Thai driver in F1.”
