Liam Lawson

Fresh from winning the 2019 Toyota Racing Series title and signing a contract to become a Red Bull Junior Team driver, Liam Lawson arrived in FIA Formula 3 with MP Motorsport.

The New Zealander endured a tricky start to life in F3, but after three previous points-scoring results, was a podium visitor for the first time at Silverstone in the Sprint Race.

Another podium later in the year, this time around Monza in the Sprint event and two more scores left him 11th in the Championship at the end of his first campaign.

A switch to Hitech Grand Prix for 2020 brought more success, with three race victories including a dominant drive in the Mugello Sprint Race to round out the season. He more than tripled his 2019 points total, finishing with 143, good enough for fifth in the Championship.

His efforts were rewarded with a promotion to FIA Formula 2 the following season with Hitech.

Two years in F2 were impressive enough for Red Bull to give Lawson the role of reserve driver with AlphaTauri. He made his F1 debut at the Dutch Grand Prix in 2023.
